Note: this page is about optional denget features, not features of denget at large
The coolest features of denget are abilities to download apps not just from public sources but from private cloud storages and even from BitTorrent. But by default, these and some other features are disabled as they require one or two additional steps. You can use denget just as your public software manager, which is why these features are optional.
denget featuresRun this command to see the status of optional features. You will be presented with categories of options, their status and, for disabled ones, a brief instruction on how to turn them on.
You can use denget to set up your private source for apps. These can be programs that you’ve made, apps and games that you own or physical copies on disks that you’ve uploaded to your cloud.
To achieve this, denget wraps rclone. You’ll need rclone installed to enable cloud support. There are a few ways to do this, but first let’s see the status of this feature. This command is in another set of subcommands, denget cloud. They’re used to manage cloud storages, or remotes in rclone terminology. They manipulate the rclone configuration file, rclone.conf.
denget cloud supportGives you a comprehensive status of cloud support. If rclone is missing, will show a brief explanation of this feature and present you with options to install rclone. If you have scoop, denget will detect this and add this option to description.
There are two main ways to install rclone to enable this feature:
Install rclone locally - denget install rclone
Main bucket includes the latest rclone version. It’s the easiest and the recommended way.
By installing rclone via denget, you will isolate configured remotes used for denget apps from your usual remotes you may have in your personal global rclone installation. Also, it will unlock the ability to easily view and edit the configuration file rclone.conf containing your cloud sources using the denget config command.
The local rclone will automatically be used as a default rclone for cloud support.
Install rclone globally
There are several options that you can find to install rclone in your system. It's only required to be available via 'rclone' command from your terminal, this way denget can use it for cloud support. One of the options is to install it using scoop by running scoop install rclone.
The global rclone will automatically be detected by denget and used for cloud support.
You can install both, and only the local rclone will be used by denget.
Using denget cloud support you can see the path to the rclone currently in use by denget.
Once rclone is installed, you can add remotes to it. To learn how to host your own cloud source check out GUIDELINK. Here, we’ll suppose you have a cloud storage with the correct structure and you’re ready to add it to denget.
denget cloud listThis command shows a list of clouds you’ve added to denget. It wraps rclone listremotes.
You can also run denget cloud list <remotename>, which wraps rclone ls and lists contents of the remote.
