This guide will walk you through the process of creating your own application manifest. The best way to create a new manifest is to take an existing one and modify it. Consider taking a manifest that is similar to the one you want to create.
Manifests for some apps can be created in a matter of seconds. The first part will focus on how quickly you can create a manifest of the same type by editing a similar one.
The second part of the guide is broken down into sections a manifest contains, with a deep look into what each section does and how. To see an overview of these sections, go to Manifests. Here, optional sections will be in italics.
There are also examples of complete manifests for cloud sources and BitTorrent sources. You can use them to quickly create your own. For a cloud source manifest example, visit Hosting apps on a private cloud. For a BitTorrent manifest example, visit Using BitTorrent.
There are already manifests for some popular types of software, and having one, or creating one yourself for the first time, would be enough to then create lots of manifests in a matter of seconds by usually just changing the Data Setup section, or, at most, also some file extensions in a few sections down the line. Everything else is streamlined. These are some, but totally not all the examples:
The best example of it are programs released on GitHub. Since some of them don’t have a nice and quick way to get them, and you need to manually download an archive from the releases page, just automate this whole process with denget.
Just use an XOutput or a rufus manifest from the main bucket as a starting point. From here, change the values in the Data Setup section accordingly and it already should be done!
Some software just need to get installed with an .exe or a .msi file. Just go grab the Outline manifest from the main bucket, change data in Data Setup section, and else should already be set.
Software that come in .zip archives that just need to get unpacked are also easy to install with denget. Use the krita manifest from the main bucket as a starting point, and it should be down to changing the Data Setup section values.
If you own a bunch of GOG games, placing them on your cloud storage to download them with denget is easy as well. Use the sections from this guide marked for the unpacker installers, build your own manifest, and then all the other mainfests for other games can be created in literal seconds.
